The legislature has two primary responsibilities. One is to pass the laws of the state and the other is to appropriate money. There has been a lot of progress in increasing transparency as it relates to passing laws. While there has also been progress as it relates to appropriating dollars, it remains difficult to follow the money. As demands continue to grow for education, transportation, healthcare and other important budget drivers, it is more important than ever to have the tools necessary to evaluate how effective we are in spending the current dollars we have.
Support policies that make it easier for citizens to track how their dollars are being spent
Support a budgetary review process that would provide more transparency for quasi-governmental organizations that receive tax payer dollars
Strengthen current budget practices by implementing long term planning evaluation principles into the budget process
